HUE COOKING CLASS AT THUY BIEU ECO-VILLAGE

Opening: Dragon Boat & Thien Mu Pagoda

At 7:30 AM or 01:30 PM, we will pick you up at your hotel/ homestay in Hue city center by private car or Hue Cyclo. Then, we start the Hue cooking class tour.

Upon arrival at the Toa Kham Wharf, our local dragon boat will welcome you. Then you begin the Hue dragon boat trip on the Perfume River to admire the sacred Thien Mu Pagoda, the most ancient temple and the symbol of Hue city.

After the 45-minute boat trip, you will discover Thien Mu Pagoda with our local guide. He/she will help you understand this sacred pagoda’s Fengshui, its architecture, and the function of each monument. Also, in our cooking class at Thuy Bieu village, our excellent guide will tell you a sad love story (love curse) about this ancient pagoda built in 1601.

When you finish visiting Thien Mu Pagoda, you return to the dragon boat. Then we head to Hue Ecolodge in Thuy Bieu for the cooking class. On the way, you will admire the beautiful scenery on both sides of the Huong River with the famous Pomelo Gardens and the scenic Hue Temple of Literature on the riverside, where 32 steles of doctors are erected.

Cooking Class First Stage: Shopping At Local Market

At about 9:00 AM or 3:00 PM, we will dock at Hue Ecolodge Wharf, an eco-resort located right next to the romantic Perfume River.

We will start going to the local market of Thuy Bieu village by bicycle. Then you will have time to explore the Thuy Bieu countryside market with fresh and clean foods grown by the people. Moreover, we will buy some necessary ingredients for cooking under the guidance of the chef.

Furthermore, on the way, tourists can drop by intriguing local places, such as:

• Incense-making family: You will learn about incense, an offering to burn on death anniversaries or other worship activities. Then, you can directly join the locals in making incense and explore the daily lives of local people with traditional handicrafts to make a living.
• Votive paper-making family: Also, visitors will discover the votive paper, which is used to burn for the dead. Everyday items, such as motorcycles, clothes, suitcases, money, etc., are made of paper to burn for the dead to enjoy. Moreover, visitors will learn more about the ancestral worship customs of the Vietnamese people.
• Village painter family: Also in the cooking class at Thuy Bieu Village Tour, visitors will come to the family of a village painter. You can chat with the painter about the sketches in the painting. Also, you can enjoy the countryside landscapes and people of Hue.

Cooking Class At Thuy Bieu Village: Main Session

Then, we will return to the restaurant (Hue Ecolodge) to work with the chef to prepare for the cooking class. We will join the Hue cooking class to make some of these dishes, such as:

• Mixed figs, shrimp, and meat (materials picked from trees in the garden).
• Vietnam Traditional Spring Rolls
• Hue Rice Pancakes (special dishes of the countryside).

After cooking, you will enjoy freshly cooked traditional Hue dishes. In addition, the kitchen will serve you 4 additional dishes as follows: Stir-fried vegetables with meat and shrimp, Vegetable soup, Steamed rice, and Seasonal fruit dessert (a product of the village).

After the meal, you have a bonus gift from us: an herb foot massage. Expert staff will give you a comfortable foot massage with traditional native herbs while you enjoy the Perfume River’s views.
