HUE TO HOI AN STOP AT THE CITY OF GHOSTS
What To Visit In The Morning?
Thanh Toan Bridge
At 8 am, our English-speaking driver will come to pick you up to go to Hoi An. We start the tour by going to the Thanh Toan covered bridge. The oldest wooden bridge in Hue City is from 1776. It is a very special bridge because it is not only a normal bridge but also a house on it.
In the middle of the bridge, the locals set up an altar to worship Ms. Tran Thi Dao, the wife of a high-ranking servant under the Le dynasty. She donated all her savings and designed a bridge to connect both sides of the local canal.
You will have a chance to visit the early-morning local market. So unlike the Dong Ba market in Hue city center, Thanh Toan village market is a real local rural market.
City Of Ghosts
After that, our driver will drive you to the City of Ghosts Vietnam. Located in An Bang, a small, quiet village at Thuan An beach. The City of Ghost is a local cemetery that, with its brilliantly colored structures built on the white sand, stretches along the side of the road for 3 kilometers. The locals call it the “City of Ghosts”.
As you know, about 90 percent of the villagers have overseas relatives or family members who live in Western countries or the USA. They have been sending money home, much of which is used to build graves.
Especially due to the competition in the construction of the villagers, there are a lot of luxury graves costing fifty thousand US dollars for their ancestors or even for family members who have not died yet. They even built in advance to be ready for their deaths.
Tam Giang Lagoon
After the wonderful City of Ghosts, the next place we will visit is the Tam Giang Lagoon. Tam Giang Lagoon is the largest lagoon in Southeast Asia, with a total surface area of 22,000 hectares.
All the big rivers in the area, such as the Perfume River, O Lau River, and Bo River pour into Tam Giang Lagoon before going to the East Sea. Many traditional craft villages are situated along these rivers’ banks and the natural beauty and nearby mangrove forests have made the lagoon a popular tourist destination.
What To See In The Afternoon?
Lap An Lagoon And Hai Van Pass
After that, we will stop at Lap An Lagoon for you to have a light lunch with a fabulous view of the 800-hectare-wide lagoon. Plus, there is a local fishing village with small basket boats, fishing boats, huge fishing nets, as well as oyster farms.
After lunch, we continue the transfer from Hue to Hoi An and stop at the City of Ghosts. We are going to Hai Van Pass (also known as Ocean and Clouds Pass).
A long time ago, it was the country border between 2 countries: Dai Nam in the north and Champa Kingdom in the south. Nowadays, it is the division border between Hue City and Da Nang. From the top of the pass, you can see panoramic views of Hue and Da Nang.
Marble Mountains Da Nang
Last but not least, you will visit the Marble Mountains, a cluster of 5 marble and limestone mountains that represent the five basic elements that created the universe. Inside the caves, there are beautiful sculptures of Buddhas. As you know, half the statues are from erosion and half from the skillful hands of local artists in the area. On the peak of the Marble of Water, you will admire the wonders of nature.
After all, we drive you safely to the hotel in Hoi An and we finish the transfer from Hue to Hoi An stop at City of Ghosts.
