Description
Discover the charm of Hoi An’s countryside with the Cooking Class at Tra Que Village Tour, where you can immerse yourself in the local culture and culinary heritage.
Located just 3 kilometers north of Hoi An Ancient Town, Tra Que Vegetable Village is renowned for its organically grown, fragrant herbs and vegetables. The village’s sustainable farming methods make it a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience authentic Vietnamese cuisine at its source.
The local farmers use only organic fertilizers, primarily riverweed, to grow their produce, ensuring their vegetables are clean, fresh, and chemical-free. This makes dishes like Cao Lau and Mi Quang taste even more special when prepared with Tra Que’s fresh herbs.
By booking the cooking class at Tra Que Village, you’ll experience the peaceful atmosphere of the vegetable gardens and enjoy a bike ride around Hoi An to see local daily life and visit the Ba Le market.
You’ll have a great chance to become a real farmer, practice farming works at the vegetable village, and learn how to cook delicious traditional Hoi An specialties using fresh vegetables straight from the garden. During the cooking class, compete with each other to become a local Master Chef and get a special prize.
At either 8:00 AM or 2:00 PM, your friendly local guide will meet you at your hotel/ homestay in Hoi An and we start the cooking class at Tra Que Village Tour.
You’ll hop on a bicycle and head to Tra Que Vegetable Village through the village roads. Along the way, we will visit Ba Le market, where you’ll learn how to select the best ingredients for your cooking class.
This is not just a shopping experience, it’s a chance to observe the lively atmosphere where locals trade goods and catch up with neighbors. Here, you can practice your bargaining skills, and pick up fresh vegetables, spices, and more.
After gathering your ingredients, you’ll cycle to the tranquil Tra Que Vegetable Village where our Tra Que cooking class half-day tour takes place, a picturesque spot filled with lush gardens and vibrant green fields.
Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing local drink, followed by a guided tour of the village where you’ll meet local farmers and learn about the traditional farming methods they’ve used for generations. Wearing traditional farming clothes, you’ll even get to try your hand at some light farming tasks, no machinery here, just old-fashioned methods.
Next, it’s time to step into the role of a chef. At a local farmer’s house, you’ll start your Tra Que cooking class. You’ll learn to prepare iconic Vietnamese dishes such as Tam Huu (Tra Que vegetable salad), Vietnamese rice pancakes, and crispy fried spring rolls.
This hands-on cooking experience is both fun and educational. You can even compete with your fellow participants to see who can become the next “local MASTER CHEF” and earn a special prize.
Once the cooking is done, it’s time to savor the fruits of your labor. Enjoy the dishes you’ve prepared during the class as your delicious lunch. To round off your day, indulge in a relaxing herbal foot massage, using herbs grown in the village, which is the perfect way to unwind after your culinary adventure.
After a delightful experience, you’ll either cycle or be driven back to your hotel, bringing this unforgettable Cooking Class At Tra Que Vegetable Village Tour to an end. Culture Pham Travel wishes you a great experience with us.

Jimmy Rice –
We had 1 free day in our package tour in central Vietnam and we would like to do this tour for a half day. The tour was excellent as it be. We could not cyclo because my wife has a bad knees and Mr. Hoa, the owner arrange a car for us to get to the vegetable village. Thank you Hoa for that support! We learnt how to be a real farmer and we leant to be a local master chef by cooking the Vietnamese pancakes, spring rolls. It was a lovely tour and we met great people! Thank you again!

We did the half day morning Tra Que vegetable village tour + cooking class and it was incredible — one of our absolute favorites in Vietnam, our entire group loved it so much! Our tour guide, Quan was super sweet, knowledgeable, and charismatic and did an amazing job teaching us about the culture and ways of life of farmers in Hoi An. The bike ride from our hotel to the vegetable village was super scenic, beautiful, peaceful, and felt like great exercise. After arriving to the village, we gained a lot of in-depth knowledge of the fruits, plants, vegetables grown by farmers and got to interact with some of them and contribute to the planting/harvesting process. It was very interactive and fun! We then did the cooking class, which was also extremely fun, engaging, and interactive. The ingredients were selected and prepped for us beforehand, but we were very involved in cutting, mixing, etc the ingredients, and making the dishes. Eating the dishes we made was super fun and delicious, and our cooking instructor also made us additional dishes including morning glory, shrimp/pork wraps, and fruit dessert, which were delicious and really filled us all up! Quan our fantastic tour guide also took so many photos throughout, so we have a lot of great photos and memories of the experience to look back on! We ended it off with a foot massage which was very relaxing and nice!
